Can anyone tell me what happens to the tensile strength of 3CR12 parent material in the immediate area of a weld.
Does it become normalised. If so, how does this effect the yield stress (normally 320 N/mm^2 min.)

Martyn,
The welding of 3CR12 causes embrittlement associated with severe grain growth in the heat affected zone and fusion zone. This will lower mechanical properties such as tensile & yield point.
