Also, what wire would I use to weld P22 to regular A53 carbon steel?

Or...perhaps someone can post a link to a chart with this info. Thanks again.

Here you go

P22 (2.25% Cr-1%Mo) to itself ER90S B3

P22 to CS, you have several choices,

ER70S-2 or ER80S B2 or ER90S B3

ER refers to bare wire rod (GTAW/GMAW) process

The filler metal for P22 can be one of the three choices above based on design of the weld joint. In any case, the filler metal must be as strong as the weaker of the two base metals, in this case, carbon steel.

Do you know the preheat and post weld heat treatment requirements?

Thanks for the tips.

Im told the project manager is aware of the heating requirement. Follow up question, speaking of the project manager.

He says will be using ER80S-B2 for the chrome to chrome weld. Is this...ok? Thanks again.

DP68;
Normally, filler metal selection is based on matching chemical composition and strength with base metal composition and strength.

If your PM understands what I just stated above, I have no further comment.
