All,
I'm working on a project in the Midwest for the Corps (one-story training building, Ie=1.0) where local jurisdiction has no say about the construction site. The building is tilt-up with CFS trusses. The Seismic Design Category is 'A'. I have welded connections throughout, but no full pen welds or any moment connections just simple shear connectors, single-pass fillet welds no greater than 5/16". I keep looking through the 2003 IBC, chapter 17 but cannot grasp whether I need a welding inspector on site per code. I look at section 1707.1 and understand I do not need a special inspector because it's in a low seismic area but then I look at section 1704.1 and cannot find where I'm excluded from special inspection. Any ideas?
TIA
