In 2001 I have built a four-stroke engine using mechanism constraints, and everything works fine - I’m now trying to make an animation.

Firstly the snap-shots I’ve created in Pro/E don’t seem to work in animation, although this hasn’t be a problem with test exercises before. I will try and create new snap-shots within animation.

My biggest problem is trying to make an MPEG file, as the standard blue Pro/E background comes our stripy, and the quality of the output, even on the highest resolution is awful.

Do people use the MPEG recorder, or use another screen capture method?

Best regards

Dave

Try Snagit ( It seems to work very good.

Please see FAQ731-376 for tips on how to make the best use of Eng-Tips Fora.

Dave,

I agree with Matthew regarding Snagit. It's still compact, easy to use and available for trial download. I've used it in the past to generate mpeg files then imported those into Adobe Premire to add production value (titles, fades, audio overlays) for a similar video to what you've described. There may (likely) be other programs that can acccomplish these editing functions at a lower cost today.

To eliminate the stripped effects of the blue Pro/E background, try doing your capture with a neutral (white) background. This can be changed by going to VIEW\Display Settings\System Colors, then uncheck the option for "Blended Background", click on the "Background" radio button and adjust the three slider settings to 255.

Good luck - hope this helps,
Ed Leitkowski
