Has anyone found a good manual for the design of traffic signal electronic or video detection systems?

I have tried searching on the net for the same topic, however, the results are vey un0-impressive. You could try the FHWA site. the link is and look commites and perform a search for CCTV

This topic is so new, I doubt there is a manual on the subject... Procedures/standards are still being written...

Maryland State Highway Authority commissioned Sabra Wang to conduct a study on the proper application and installation of video detection. You can contact either Ed Rodenhizer at MSHA (erodenhizer@sha.state.md.us) or Ziad Sabra of Sabra Wang (zsabra@sabra-wang.com).

Purdue University has also been conducting the same study for Indiana DOT. Professor Darcy Bullock is the contact(darcy@ecn.purdue.edu).

If you want information from a company who pioneered video detection, you can also contact Ross Davidson at Econolite (rdavidson@econolite.com).
