Are there resources or very rough rules of thumb for the cost of placing concrete for mat foundation; pile supported or otherwise? I assume it would be priced per cubic yard. The foundation is on the order of 50' by 30' by 3'. I'm awaiting a preliminary geotech to determine what the soil bearing capacity is/if piles are needed.

you just want concrete placement, or total placement plus material? I have run in to estimates for placement plus material of $400 - $600 per cu. yd. But it is quite variable depending on who you talk to, and where it is being done.

Thanks structSU10, looking for total placement plus material. This work is being done in Michigan so I'm assuming the labor is more expensive. Does that $400-600 include concrete and rebar?

yes, that number was supposedly for everything, concrete, rebar, forming, etc.

I am also located in Michigan.

I think the stated number is approximately correct, not including site preparation (excavation, placement of base sand or other material, etc)

Does total placement not include site prep? Site prep would be better based on foundation square area it seems

I interpreted structSU10's post as "total: placement + material", not as 'total placement' + 'material'

In any event, I'm in the same state as you (detroit metro here) and just dealt with placement of a 40 x 100 pad with varying thickness, and we paid about $475 per yard including concrete, rebar, and labor to place concrete and rebar. Site prep included, the cost was about $700 per yard.

But site prep will vary a LOT depending on where your pad is going.

Thanks jgKRI, this is very helpful. Have you found the soil in the Detroit Metro area to be not so great, generally ≤2000psf?

jgKRI do you have a ball point cost of a single installed pile in Michigan?
