At present looking to employ blast dampers to protect ductwork and HEPA filters. However trying to substantiate the blast valves is concerning. What other options are there, or how to substantiate the valves? Any case data on non operation would be useful ie after how many firings? My client prefers passive options.

Another option to a blast damper, is an explosion panel, a section covered in foil or similar material that will rupture before the main duct. The dis-advantage of this is that you have to replace it after a blast event.

There are also hinged covers with calibrated latches - I used them for deflagration vents once.

Many thanks. The cleaning is of importance as I must also contain the shock, the quasistatic pressure, but must be re-usable after a cleaning regime of waste gases has occurred.
Blast baffles have been considered although again reliability, how much sooting occurs. Further to all this what percentage (for a mass balance) of Beryllium would oxidize after an explosion - is 22% a good assumption?
