Our vapor recovery unit for at a gasoline fuel terminal is overheating the product as it passes through causing the unit to shut down. We are looking for a cost effective way to cool the product as is passes through 300'of 4" pipe at 225gpm that is returning it to the tank.

Yes we contacted the vendor they recommend a chiller. The problem only seems to be with the summer product. I'm told the heat from the vapors condensing is being transferred to the product. We were hoping for a simple way to cool the product as it passed through the line. Kind of like a heat trace in reverse.
Okay, lets dig into this a bit more. What kind of VRU, a screw compressor? If its a screw compressor is it wet or dry? What kind of cooling does the VRU have? Air? Water? How hot is the gasoline going back? What rates do you have in hat weather and cold weather?
