Valve Cv

Hi all,

Been asked to look at a project of using a gas PCV isstead of a failed water LCV...

I would presume no straight away due to differing characteristics however I have been asked to look at the Cv...

Gas valve has Cv of 100.4 where as the original water valve has Cv of 393...

would this be able to be used?

If that valve's Cv will pass the flow you require, then yes, if it won't, well, that is an easy no.

No. The density of gas is 100 times lighter than water, so you will get 100 times the flow at the same %open. You will be working the water valve at the almost closed position where you will have virutally no control range left to work with. You need a valve that you can position between 30 and 70% open at set point flows.
