Has anyone ever used a software/program that allows the use of tolerances in models and assemblies? I've got a project where we are converting a couple weldments into cast parts. The gap between these two parts and other parts get quite close during the use of the product.
I'd like to visualize the max. & min. tolerance of the two cast parts inside this assembly to insure clearance and help in setting guidelines for our casting vendor on what is or isn't an acceptable part.

Thanks,

Hi Birdie

You can set tolerances in your Pro/E models by editing the properties of the dimensions themselves (select the dim, right click-->properties). You need to set the config options "tol_display" and "tol_mode" appropriately.

You can visualize your worst case boundaries using the options in Edit-->Setup-->Dim Bounds (using WF+).

There is more advanced software available called CE/TOL, which is a tolerance stackup analysis/6-sigma tool, but that's about as much as I know about that.

Thanks for the reply! I'll give this a try.
