hi everybody

my query is that what is the technical advantage using sintered materials in EGR valves where mechanical stress is not a concern but thermal heat conduction
and thermal stresses play major role in failure.

In automotive quantities, sintered parts are really cheap because they can be baked to net shape with little or no secondary machining. The process really shines where the geometry is just a little bit complicated, and the tolerances are not super tight.

Thermal properties of sintered material are clearly 'good enough' for EGR service.

And since they are not quite fully dense they have great thermal shock resistance.
If the part can be designed so that only the largest OD, or the smallest ID, or the longest length needs to me machined then one operation give you a finished part.
