Are sacrifical anodes only used where two dissimilar metallic parts are in contact with eachother in an electrolyte, or are they beneficial in protecting a stand alone, single metal part from corrosion due to sulfuric acid. Process I'm talking about is continuous anodizing of an aluminum strip.

Thanks

I have used plenty of sacrificial anodes on steel pipes (single metal)in seawater.

We use sacrifical anodes in almost all of our carbon steel heat exchangers on the cooling water side. Our cooling water is neutral PH and not salty.
