I am working on a heat treat furnace that we are having problems with. The original design involves the exit of the furnace and then the quench area. We have a mechanical arm that removes the parts from the door of the furnace and then places them into the quenc area. The motors and gear reducers associated with this system are having a high failure rate and we are looking for something that requires less maintenance.
Would it be possible to use electromagnets to accelerate and decelerate an unloader arm approximately 20 feet.
The parts that it is unloading are not very heavy.
