Is it possible to use Cesar II software per pipeline stress analysis as an alternative to the most common softwares for such application like Sage, AutoPipe or Abaqus?
I always saw Cesar II application on piping.
Does anyway have experience on that or list pros and cons?

Thanks

Filippo

It is both possible and quite common, but you do need to have some training and knowledge of the inputs and default values for the buried pipe module.

The fact is handles the above / below ground work as one model is very useful to avoid artificial interfaces.

There are specific forums on different software. Might be best to peruse those and ask in that forum.

Caesar II is very commonly used in pipe stress analysis. It can aboveground/underground piping, has numerous US & international codes available, and has a decent help document.

Like LittleInch said, you need training to understand the software otherwise it's just garbage in/garbage out like anything else. There are online training courses available as well that are decent at laying the foundation.

If you're doing a pipeline, one downside of Caesar (not sure about other software) is that the piping length input is only available via lengths; you can't use coordinates or input through a list. If you have survey data or something for a long pipeline, it can be somewhat tedious to convert that data in Excel and have something to input. If you have CadWorx for AutoCAD there's other workarounds.
