Use FEM to design pilecap

Dear all

I use finite element method to design the reinforcement in pilecap for a bridge. I used plate element to represent the pilecap.

My question is when I extract the bending moment at the plate elements, do I use the force averaged from a section cut line (say a meter) or I need to design the force from the element node?
