Unstructured mesh generation output listings

I'm writing an in-house finite element solver and am wondering if there is a listing out there of the types of output that are generated by the various mesh generation codes out there. Ie some common formats that every code uses or a list of specific ones for specific codes. Something like a universal output (like plot3d for structured meshes) that all codes can generated would be nice. What I want to be able to do is read in element and node listings for a variety of different preprocessing and I don't have these codes available here to look at their outputs. At the moment I only know of the node and element listing output that can be generated by the ANSYS preprocessor. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
