I am designing a building which has part of the second floor as a balcony over an enclosed space. The Architect is showing the balcony as my composite deck and slab system with a waterproofing membrane and an unbonded topping slab on top of this which slopes to a drain. I was going to make the minimum thickness of this topping slab at the drain as 2 1/2". Does this sound satisfactory? The live load on the balcony is 100 psf foot traffic. Thanks.

Yes, 2-1/2 inches is typically sufficient for unbonded topping slab with only foot traffic.

Thank you
