I have been installing it from the solid edge cd to c:\Solid Edge Standard Parts and when the installation in complete i have been trying to change in the tools\options --> file locations

standard parts SAC file and add the directory to the c:\Solid Edge Standard Parts\SMAPINIFile.sac but it tells me its not working "the standard parts INI file was not opened successfully"

Nothing works... I heard it's due the update of .NET? Is that true? I can see all the updates of .NET
Which one do i have to uninstall? I see a lot of updates...
(.NET framework 2.0 SP2; .NET framework 3.0 SP2; .NET framework 3.5 SP1)...

Are there other ways to solve this problem? (besides uninstall the updates?)

Thnx

Sorry I cannot help with your problem.
IMHO I would keep clear, over the years I have tried to work with this addon/product, but it's slow and cumbersome.

Have you tried running the Standard Parts Configuration Wizard?
You will find it under the Solid Edge V## > Standard Parts start menu.

If you are going with all the default locations then it should already have the correct entries in the fields. Then simply hit OK.

Your the file location for the .SAC file should then be set correctly in the File Locations tab.

Its too slow, overcomplicated and doesn't have enough content - especially metric standards.
Adding stuff to it is almost impossible.
Siemens should get it sorted - its a joke.

bc.

Quadro FX4600.

Where would we be without sat-nav?

Yes I agree, very difficult (but not impossible) to add your own parts. Especially if you want to use them in the Fastener System or Piping.

Exactly, Very difficult, 99% of people (that I know) give up with this cumbersome add-in, it has no added value to an SE install and as Beachcomber rightly points out Siemens should sort it or drop it.

For years I have used SE-PartsXL, simple install, easy to use and easy to modify standard parts to create your own. After several months of use a library builds with used parts.

It's a shame that it was dropped and is no longer available. In the early days it was free too!

These days there are a plethora of free models all over the web.

I also have installed the free Traceparts library DVD for 2010; this too is excellent, fast search and part creation. Well worth signing up for.

if things don't work, sometimes creating a new database is a good work-around (first menu in the Administrator : Database manager). Create a new database (make it the working one) and register parts with the first option (make sure it is the xxx.ML.xxx file for the machinery library)

Maybe I gonna update to SE ST version... I heard it's much better...
