Good morning,

I stumbled upon the following thread:

thread561-330582

In which the OP is trying to determine the units of the moment of inertia calculation using -Analysis - measure bodies - show information window - method. A user responded to the question stating the MoI is returned on mass, not area and also mentioned that the material must be of uniform density.

Simply put, I am looking at a steel tube which is to be lifted with aluminum tubing. Is the MoI calculation invalidated because there is variable density in the assembly? Does the Analysis method assume a single density of the two options to act throughout the assembly?

Thanks you for your time,
Rico

The material of each *body* must be of uniform density. It's OK to have different densities for different bodies.
