Typical seal life

We are using mechanical seal in water around 200F and pressure 1500 psi.Stationary face:Barium Bronze B4, Rotating face:Tungstun Carbide. Is this combination good. We have experienced abnormal wearing of Bronze part in very short time.
Does anybody has similar experience with these material ?

Tungsten Carbide is a VERY hard material and you're running it directly on another metal?

its good to use carbon against bronze then TC, ie. car/bronze.

There are is only one reason I can think of to use hard faces in this service- abrasives. Is there anything special about this water? A much safer bet for the usual high pressure water service is Carbon vs Tungsten. If I were you I would contact my vendor and talk about this application. No doubt that at these pressures some engineering on their part would be prudent.

Which flush plan are you using?

Now there are other services where Tungsten against Bronze work well... just not water.
