Hello All,
Recently we subcontracted the manufacturing (forging, machining) and overlay welding of some tubesheets under ASME VIII div 1 including ASME U stamp.
This supplier holds a ASME U stamp certification but subcontracted the overlay welding to a welding company also with U stamp certification.
In this case our supplier forwarded the order but forgot to forward the U stamp requirement.
This company supplied us the needed WPQ's and WPS's (according to ASME IX) and we approved these documents.
But because the welding company did not accepted the order including U stamp no inspection of a AI is performed.
Therefore it is not possible for them to deliver a Partial date report (U-2).
Now we have some completed tubesheets at our shop that are not according to U stamp requirements.
Can somebody inform me if there is still a manner to accept these tubesheets for further use in our heat exchangers under U stamp?
Or is it not possible to use? (for information 6 pieces D1400-T450-SA350-FL2-INCONEL 625 overlay cladding).
Excluding the U-2 report, overall data e.g. material certificates, ndt, welding documents satify the code requirements.
We know our subcontractor failed here but we are trying to safe these tubesheets. For your information we also hold an ASME Code Stamp.
Thanks in advance,
Kind regards,
