Thanks a lot Jim,
That was a very useful link including several kinds of fluids.
But my concern was, more specificaly, reactions of a high chromium(around %27) stainless steel with petroleum and gas fluids.
Can anyone comment on that?
Thanks in advance...
Petroleum and gas fluids are generally not considered corrosive unless they are contaminated with H2S(Sour).
Sometimes the vendor of the alloy your are using will offer a compatibility chart. The only 27% Cr material I am seeing in my literature is Stellite 6, but that's a cobalt alloy and not really a "Stainless".
There is also 1.4086, which contains 27% or 29% and it is listed as stainless.
But it is not commonly very well known by the market I guess.
In fact, I couldn't even find the cross reference in ASTM Standards
So that's the reason why I am trying to find out more about this material. I am considering to use it in petroleum & gas applications.
Do you have any comment on that?
