Hello, I am running a transient heat transfer simulation with a quadratic element (DC2D8). The temperature of the left edge is fixed at 0 while the right edge increases gradually to 45.

But I found the temperature of the left half is lower than 0. Is this reasonable?

It looks like a numerical error due to very coarse discretization. But check all settings (initial temperature, boundary condition amplitude, material properties, dimension units) just in case.

That's true. There is a relationship between the minimum usable time increment and the element size.

Thanks.
