Hello,
i am new to this forum and hope to find some help regarding my problems i am dealing with right now doing some thermal heat transfer calculations with femap/nastran.

I would like to model the temperature distribution within 4 layers of different materials. I do have a certain heatflux through these layers(every layer has its own conductivity and heat capacity). As a result i would like to know the temperatures within my model after e.g. 30minutes, 60minutes and when it reaches steady state.

I am doing the simulation in Femap/Nastran and would like know if there are some special points i need to take in account.

I was able to do the simulation as a steady state heat transfer simulation. The result was that i got the end temperature, but whether the time it needs to reach that temperature nor the steps in between. ->steady state, i understand.

What i know so far is that i need to define functions over the time for my loads(i do not have time dependent loads but i need to define them with a constant function) and materials(i do have temperature dependent material properties).
I also read that i have to define an initial load (temperature). The value must be located within the range of my defined functions.

Well, that is what i know and what i did. But to be honest with you, there are some many options to choose and to be adjusted within this program and i have no glue about them.

Also, i can not find some proper tutorials for transient heat transfer for femap/nastran using the internet.

Thank you very much for your help!
I appologise for questions that might be "stupid" but i am very new to this topic.

Your help is much appreciated,

Stefan
