I am currently modeling a MEMS parallel plate capacitor and am investigating the interactions between an applied voltage and a mechanical shock to the response (specifically displacement and the "pull-in" phenomenon). The gap is represented by TRANS126 elements. I have been able to get a static solution to the voltage, but am wondering how to transition over to a transient solution (where the voltage is applied then the device is "shocked" mechanically by an imposed acceleration). Can I just apply the voltage in a pre-stress procedure, then apply the acceleration and let the simulation run? Will the electrostatic force be updated during the solution (since the boundary will be moving?) The model is described in general here: however now I’m trying to add in a mechanical force to investigate the transient response
