Transformers Question

Any issues with what I am describing below?

Basically I want to know if problems will arise by having my main site transformers which are connected to the utility at a Dyn11 and another set of Dyn11 stepping this voltage down some more and then another Dyn11 for the final distribution voltage. A final phase shift of 90 degrees from the utility, does the phase shift affect both the current and the voltage?

Phase shift only matters if you want to parallel two transformers. What you describe is a radial distribution, no paralleling and is very common.

Then why would the lead electrical guy state that we should have a Dyn1 feeding a Dyn11 to get an over all phase shift of 0.

Is this considered good practice?

You need to ask your head guy that question. Perhaps he knows something that you don't. And we have a no way of knowing what he knows. He may have a reason.

It is possible that he is trying to avoid issues with paralleling with another bus that has different no of transformation steps.

Good practice is relative to what you what to achieve.
