transformer rating

can anyone confirm for me that a 1600kva three phase transformer is rated for 2228A at 415v

I get 2226 Amps I wouldn't worry about the difference. I used the calculator generated value for root 3. You probably used 1.73

Transformer rated power = 1600 kVA
Transformer rated voltage = 415 V
Then transformer rated current = 1600000/(1.73*415)=2225.9A

1.73=SQRT (3)

Check the transformer rating plate.
Transformers connected to 415V buses usually have a no-load secondary terminal voltage at centre tap position of 433V.
ie. Transf secondary current rating I LV = 1.6*10^6/( sqrt(3)*433 ) = 2133 A

As mnewman says, the current rating is based on the no-load voltage. You need to check the no-load voltage quoted on the transformer rating plate. Typically this will be 433 V so I would agree with mnewmans value of 2133 Amps as the rated current of this winding.
