I'm currently investigate the effect of transformer in-rush current at a distribution level. Need to know what instigate this behavior and its effect on the system. If you know any source/websites for which I could study about this phenomenon, it would be very helpful. Thanks, and have a great day.

Transformer inrush is based on the lack of back-emf (or counter-emf) upon energizing the primary winding. This results in currents which IEEE 242 recommends plotting at 10-12x the FLA for 0.1s, which is typically the worst-case. Once energized, the current reduces to the energization current plus the load current and losses.
