Hi there good people.
I've been asked to simulate the torsional oscillations in a long shaft subjected to several excitations along its length.
I've chosen to do this work mainly in matlab, due to the interest of analysing a number of effects on its transient response (e.g. the use of a separate viscous damper and the amount of gear hammering in the gear drive). I've never done analysis like this before, but numerically integrating the transient response (Newmark, Central difference etc.) seemes to be pretty straight forward. Though, is there something i should do in addition to this? I've been given free reign, so its more or less up to me how to go about it.
Also, im having some trouble finding appropriate litterature on the subject, any tips? Thank you!
