Hi all,

I'd like to calculate the torsional stress on a thin disk, where torque is applied at the center, and then transferred through the disk to the outside edge. I remember doing this calculation before, and that standard Tau=Tr/J assumption does not apply because it is no longer assumed to be a long bar. Does anyone have this formula/analysis method?

Thanks,
Matt

Tau = T/r/(2*pi*r*t)? Just divide by radius to get force at that distance, divide that force by area around that radius.

Please post a diagram or sketch of the disk, how it is loaded & restrained (boundary conditions) if you can.
