Hi all
I have some high pressure vessels that designed with ASME Sec.VIII Div.2.
According to ASME, RT is mandatory for all welding joint.
You know that RT is very difficult (especially in Category D Joints).
-Can we replacing RT with PAUT test in category D?
-Can we replacing RT with TOFD in category A, B?
-Is there any standard that support this subject?
Best Regards

ULTRASONIC IS ACCEPTABLE FOR CAT. D JOINTS

A & B JOINTS MUST BE RADIOGRAPHED UNLESS THEY ARE NOT ACCESSIBLE FOR RT

Review Code Case 2235-9. It applies to ASME I, VIII, Div1 and VIII, Div. 2.

Well I'll be danged. I always just looked in rules and not the code cases. I'll have to look at new cost for this and it's record keeping.
