Tie Rod Stress Concentration Proof

I'm faced with a problem where I need to cut the length of the rod body on a tie rod, however, I need to prove that this modification will not affect the entire structure seeing as how the critical points of stress on a tie rod exist at the clevis and end rod. How would I go about proving that these are the critical locations??
