As part of a building project I've designed steel face hangers for connection of glulam beams to concrete tie beams on a cmu wall.

The contractor has asked to use all-threads, instead of bolts threaded on both ends only, through the glulams in the fabricated connections.

I'm not certain as to how this would affect the connection or the smooth dowel assumption of the yield limit theory under which the connection was designed.

Any thoughts?

The standard yield limit equations still apply, but you need to use the root diameter of the threaded rod instead of the full diameter.
