Hi quys,
In a previous query I was in search of a SPECIFIC paragraph in the ASME code (VIII, 31.3,31.4,31.8) that defines the thickness over which, Post Weld Heat Treatment should be performed. This query still remains. Could someone enlight me?

Depends on material, weld joint thickness and Code application. Please enlighten us as to your specific application.

vitalis77, for Section VIII, Div. 1, see:

UCS-56, UNF-56, UHA-32,44 and 105, UCL-34

for the most common requirements, other Parts may apply depending on your materials of construction.

Regards,

Mike

To my knowledge

1/- For ASME/ANSI B31.3 see its table 3331.1.1 (Requirement for heat treatment)

Temperature or holding time are function of the material group and material P number.

For instance for P no. 1 ( A106 gr.B, A-333 Gr.6 ) it start from 19 mm = 3/4 "

2/-But this could be over-ruled by process condition, which could require a PWHT

----------------

same as above for ASME VII-DIV.1 , then refer to tables in UCS part.
