Dear members, I am currently running a simulation on railway subject to environment heat.


Well, Assume the rail is like a piece of cylindrical bar. The surrounding temperature is 70 degrees C and the rail is initially at ambient temperature say 25 degrees C. I know the value of h. What would be the best way of determining the transient temperature increment?


My method is simply to put a surface heat load to all the surface and the convection heat transfer from the environment to the bar. I am not positive if I do need the prescribed temperature...Can anyone please advise?


Does prescribed temperature means that is the fix temperature where it will never change no matter how hard it is heated up?
