Would anyone have any guidance or reference material in selecting thermal break material and thicknesses to be sandwiched between to end plates forming an HSS column splice.

The column splice would be located just below the roof of an existing building to support a proposed platform above in the midwestern US. The column splice would also be subjected to moment and axial force.

Thanks!

Google Fabreeka thermal pads. I've found the cost to be of little consequence so long as lead time is built into the schedule. You want to locate the pads as close to the insulation plane as possible. Moment and axial no problem,m.

I like to debate structural engineering theory -- a lot. If I challenge you on something, know that I'm doing so because I respect your opinion enough to either change it or adopt it.
