Can anybody give me a web site that will give heat inputs and the best way to monitorit for a procedure and what things i need to know about it.

Go to the esab web site below, select Resources and follow the links to Handbooks. You can scroll through these Welding Handbooks to research the minimum requirements for welding P-No 5A (2.25 Cr- 1 Mo) base materials and filler metals




Once you have done this, you can visit aws.org and search for a Standard Welding Procedure Specification (SWPS) for P-No 5A base materials. You need to select a welding process for an SWPS. Just a note, the SWPS are not for free.

If you are preparing youself to review and monitor the use of a vendor's procedure, you'll want to be very familiar with that particular procedure. It will specify minimum preheat and maximum interpass temps, maximum allowable heat input (if impact tested), qualified material thickness range, both min and max, and many other variables.
On the other hand, if you're developing a weld procedure for you company's use, on this material, metenger's suggestions will provide you with some basic information, but, there are many potential pitfalls and I would suggest you seek some professional advice.
