Hi,

The new option "Alternate Dimension Endpoints" is always grayed out in Drafting Linear Dimension NX9

Does anybody could confirm or maybe I am wrong ?

Are you dimensioning to arc centerpoints/tangent points? If not, this option probably won't be available. Check the help file for its intended use:
Home -> What's new in NX9 -> CAD -> Drafting -> Alternate Dimension Endpoints

Hi Cowski

I confirm that I am using exactly the information in "Home -> What's new in NX9 -> CAD -> Drafting -> Alternate Dimension Endpoints"

Have a look at the screenshot

Did you try it ?

Yes I have, and it seems to work as advertised.
Are you sure you are dealing with arcs and not intersection curves or splines?

Attached is a video showing how this function works. Note that you don't have to go to the dialog to select this option as you can toggle between the two alternatives using MB3, as I show in the video.

Hi,

OK, I was trying using it when placing dimension on solid not on sketch !!!

Is there a limitation or am I wrong ?

One question: Cowski, How did you put image on your post ?

Regards

It should work on edges as long as the underlying edge type is "arc" and not "intersection curve" or "tolerant edge".

How did you put image on your post ?

I uploaded it to engineering.com, when you press OK a dialog comes up giving you the file location, something like [ignore]www.engineering.com/[/ignore]getfile.aspx.bigjumbleofletters-filename. Copy the address, use eng-tips' picture tag and paste the address in it, but make sure to change the getfile to download. Use the preview function to make sure it is going to work, tweak as necessary.

Thanks a lot for the tips
