I am running CAD 2005. Is there a way to fill in text. The text letters are big and each has an ouline, but want the outline to be filled in.

I believe the system variable (& command) you are looking for is TEXTFILL, quite coincidentally :)

Then there is FILLMODE to fill polylines and solid hatches.
