Greetings.
My company is going to employ a mono-screw pump to get tallow (animal grease) at about 50°C from a subterranean tank (3 meters below pump level) about 12 meters away from the pump room. Our supplier (Seepex) states that this is possible, and I can believe it. But, we are going to need a filter between the tank and the pump (the animal grease in the tank is a lot dirty) and this filter must be self-cleaning. The filter supplier states that there will be no problem at all, but in the recent past self-cleaning filters were not capable of perfect sealing- and any air leakage in the duct from the tank to the pump will make suction almost impossible..
Can someone offer me some data for reference on the problem, so that I can make the correct choice of filter? (the only alternate solution I can think of is two parallel basket filters, so that when one is dirty I can shut it and use the other.. while cleaning the first one).
THe grease is about 0.936 Kg/l density, the temperature is 50°C. I do not know boiling point..
Thanks in advance for your advices.
