I have a situation where I have set the tailwater of two connected "ponds" at the same elevation (592). One "pond" is in fact a pond. The other "pond" is modeled to represent the outlet swale to a river (water elevation=592). I have modeled a weir as the outlet from the swale at an elevation of 592. The pond has an outlet structure that, at this elevated river elevation, is underwater.

The model shows that the submerged outlets are moving water and that doesn't make sense. The invert elevations of the outlet structure are all underwater.

There are two scenarios that I would like to investigate. (1) What is the peak elevation in the pond for all design storms when the river is at this elevation? and (2) What arethe discharge rates of the swale for the specified design storms?

A sketch would help.
And what software are you using?

The link doesn't appear to work here.
I'm not familiar with HydroCAD.

The link may work now. I had HydroCAD running when I posted it last time.

If you aren't familiar with HydroCAD, do you know of another location I should be searching instead/as well?

psmart would be a great contact if you had any questions regarding HydroCAD

Someone more familiar with it will answer to your question.

I'm not sure to understand how your model works. Esp. regarding initial and boundary conditions.

The link still doesn't seem to be working, so there isn't much detail to go on. However, the submerged outlets will still pass water whenever the WSE in the ponds excedes the preset tailwater.

For any future questions like this, please note the separate HydroCAD forum...
