why synchroscope should not be left in circuit after synchronising?

One less thing to fail and possibly take out a VT fuse.

I think it is because they are not usually rated for continuous operation (the traditional electromechanical ones). The more modern electronic ones may be continuously rated, but as Scottyuk says, as it is not needed for normal operation, disconnect it.
