SW2008 drawing problems

Just got a new computer with SW2008 already installed on it. Most everything is working ok but there are two problems I can't figure out how to fix:

1. New drawings default to 1st angle projection and have to be changed manually to 3rd angle each time, even when adding a new sheet. I think some kind of config program has to be re-run but I don't know where to find it.

2. Annotations added to a view, like notes, finish marks, geometric callouts, don't move with the view if it is dragged. I could not find a setting in properties to fix this.

By the way, I am at SP0.0, so that might be the problem. I have just been reluctant to upgrade yet for fear of introducing new problems.

Thanks for your help.

Recommended for you

1. Fix your template. Just change to 3rd angle, save the template and sheet format.

2. I haven't heard of anyone else having this issue and can't replicate it. I would, however, recommend updating to 3.1.

2. Are your notes actually attached to the view, or are they attached to the sheet? Try enabling the leaders and attaching the leaders to geometry in the view.

I agree with Jeff ... upgrade to SP3.1 first.

If that doesn't solve problem #2;
a) Try resetting the registry ... faq559-507
b) RMB on a view and select Lock View Focus before placing notes, etc.
c) Do a clean reinstall of SW (with anti-virus disabled) ... faq559-488

ocasionally when I move a view the notes will not move with it, but after a "ctrl-q" they snap back to where they should be. I havn't noticed any pattern to it. I am currently running SP3.1 and it has done it once.

Heckdogg, what Jeff is telling you regarding problem #2 is correct. If you have a view active or selected when you create the note then the note will move with the view. If you do not have the view active then the note is "attached" to the sheet and is independent of the view and its movement.

You can right-click on the view and select Lock View Focus and then any note you create will be associated with that view until you unlock the focus.

Give that a try.

Updraft...

my notes (and even hole callouts) are attached to the view, not the sheet. When I move the view, the attached notes will ocasionally lag behind. But as I stated in my last post a "ctrl-q" will speed up the lag, and place them back to where they are supposed to go.
