Does anyone have any good ideas about how to go about making a seat look real with ripples? Most seats have a ripple or wave effect when the fabric is pulled over and secured. I'm trying to achieve that ripple of wave effect.

I was thinking the deform might do it by placing a spline on a surface then pushing down on it but I have had no luck.

I would think something like this would be best done as an applied texture in photorendering.

I agree wiht Tick.
Unless you're tryinh to design-in the ripples, don't bother. They are a by-product of the assembly - correct?
Like screw threads - unless you're the guy who manufactures them - you don't need to put them in your model.
