Does anyone have experience of selective corrosion and/or erosion/corrosion of Heat Affected Zone of carbon steel (ASTM A106 Gr. B)pipe weldment in sulfur dichloride service. I registered a greater amount of residual elements as Cu and Cr in corroded pipe in comparison with some uncorroded pipe in the same service conditions.

Thanking in advance for any useful information.

Did you get any further with this issue? It looks like we may have something similar. Severe attack in HAZ and no attack anywhere else. I have looked at the Cr & Cu values and they do appear to be higher in the attacked area but do not understand the significance of this. Any thoughts?

I think that such residual elements participate in a kind of massive passive film in sulfur dichloride environment and weaken it in case of corrosion-erosion phenomena, at least this is my thought (it is scientifically proved in hydrofluoric acid carbon steel corrosion)
