Hello,

I wanted to subtract two pattern elements from my workpiece, but get an error report. (See image and uploaded file)
In the discussion forum i couldn't find any help.
Is there maybe an alternative way to do this kind of operation?
Can i get the finished workpiece in .prt format?

Sincerly Rick

Why not use the swept command?, otherwise unite your pattern solids before performing the subtract.

I uploaded the partfile, happened to try it in NX11.
NX11 will return warning messages , not error messages, that some of the tool bodies doesn't intersect the target when subtracting the instanced bodies.
This is information only.

This seems to me like a Pro/E type procedure, i think this is how Pro/E sometimes handles similar tasks.
In NX i would rather sweep the profile provided i get the correct shape.
( NX11 can sweep Solid volumes compared to sweeping "profiles" in earlier versions.)
An alternative would be to instance the profile/The sketch, say 3-4 copies along the guide and then build a "trough curves" body from these.
If that would produce a different shape has to be tested.

The method used in the uploaded part will produce a "facetted" and kind of heavy model. But depending on the use, fully acceptable.

Tomas

Sweep Along Guide, set the Boolean to Subtract and select the large cylinder. Apply Edge Blend to appropriate edges. Done.
