I am questioning the decision to use or not to use flat washers when making a subsea bolted connection. I have heard somewhere in the past that they should not be used due to corrosion issues and it is best to just use a bolt and nut. Does anyone have real experience with this?
 
Generally speaking, washers are not used in subsea bolted connections. Here are some references that you can review for more information:
