Hello everyone, I am a young engineer and I have a question on how to charge fees for a project.

The client aims at raising the roof height so that it can be used as living space. current roof height is about 1.5m and client wants to achieve a height of 2.8m.
The project involves completely removing the existing timber roof and building a new mansard roof. plan area of roof is about 50m2
The structure below is a reinforced concrete two-storey house with a reinforced concrete slab at 1st floor and roof level.

My services required are:

1. Onsite visit for measurements
2. Investigation of existing building and one extension done about 5 years ago.
3. Provide structural calculations for sizing the timber beams
4. Construction drawings with connection details, to allow builder to carry the work.
5. ongoing site visits to check on the process

what do you guys think i should charge for this?

It's unfortunate that you lost the previous response from CBeng (I think)

If I remember correctly he recommended breaking down 2,3 &4 further into smaller chunk so you can more accurately assign time to each task. Determine an hourly rate for yourself, draftspeople (if different than you), insurance etc.

regarding pt 5, we typically include 2-3 site visits in the main contract at specific milestones, e.g. once the existing framing has been removed, 50% complete re-framing, 100% complete re-framing. Any additional visits are charged additionally at a pre-determined fixed price per trip.

Thanks for the reply, yes unfortunately my post was deleted before i could see the replies. Any chance the forum moderator can send me the reply?
