Hi,

I am interested to see if Strand7 can import file create by MSC.Patran. In Patran I have the option to export as *.out but in Strand7 I only have the option to import *.nas or *.dat. I am wondering if anyone knows the way around this?

Thank You

I'm not an Strand7 user, only a Patran user.

I think that you can only transfer a FE Model from Patran to Strand7.
To do this under Analysis menu in Patran and press OK on Analyze - Entire Model - Model Only
This will write a File in the Patran working directory . The file will have the name of current Job and an bdf extension.
Now rename the file as *.dat extension and try to import in Strand7, it should work!!

Regards

Strand7 supports import of MSC_NASTRAN Version 70 data files. It expects the file to be called *.dat or *.nas. It is looking for an ASCII plain text file, with strict formatting, 80 characters per line, and the usual three main sections: Executive Control, Case Control, and Bulk Data.

If you just rename the file as either *.dat or *.nas, you should be able to import it into Strand7 OK.

Hope this helps!

Thank you both very much. That worked a treat, I didn't realize it was as easy as renaming the bdf file.
