Hi all,

When modeling piping connected to a pump where the nozzle is small say 1" and about 6" long from the pump casing at 45 degree inclination, can anyone tell me how should I determined the nozzle stiffness in both axial, lateral and rotational axis of the nozzle (lb/inch, lb/inch-degree)? Thanks for all your generousity.

Hi Phil

Stiffness or Spring Constant is defined as Imposed Force/Resulting displacement. See Roarks Formulas for Stress and Strain and estimate displacement for unit load. Since your nozzle is inclined you have to account for that. You can assume the pump to be rigid.
